Grace Marie Gerling

Grace Marie Gerling, age 101, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. Grace was one of 6 children born to William and Kate Rentel in Clear Creek, Missouri.

Grace married Vernon Gerling on April 6, 1942 and they were married for 62 years before his passing on January 19, 2005. She was a homemaker to their 6 children and a farm wife to her husband. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove and a member of the St. Joseph Altar Sodality.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; sisters Leona Hoff and Virginia Vollmer; brothers Henry, Robert and Norbert Rentel; and great-grandson Hunter Allen Johnson.

Grace is survived by sons Duane Gerling and his wife Mary of Riverview, Florida, David Gerling and his wife Marilyn of Pilot Grove, Frank Gerling, Fayette, Marvin Gerling and his wife Mary of Boonville; daughters Marilyn Elliott and her husband Kelly, Jacquelyn Day and her husband Vernon all of Boonville; 17 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove with burial following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10 AM Wednesday morning at the church with Rosary at 8:45 AM.
