Gladys M. Whitesell Jobe

Gladys M. Whitesell Jobe, age 82, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born February 1, 1931, in Bates County, Missouri a daughter of George and Essie Messenger Vogeler. Gladys was united in marriage to Freddie "Junior" Whitesell on January 14, 1949 and he preceded her in death August 13, 1984. She married Lloyd Jobe on August 19, 1985 and he preceded her in death May 10, 1999. Gladys worked at Smithson's in Stover for many years. For several years, Gladys worked as a home health aid, serving many families in the Morgan County area. She enjoyed taking walks, visiting with people and caring for her animals. Survivors include three children and their spouses, Linda and David Schroeder of Sunrise Beach; Patti and Gary Proehl of Versailles and Dale and Tammy Whitesell of Stover; one sister, June Cumpton of Adrian; three granddaughters and their spouses, Kristin and Brian Harris, Heather and Randy Abbott and Amanda and David West; seven great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Abbi, Adam, Halley, Hannah and Austin, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to Junior and Lloyd, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dorothy Oldham and three brothers, Orie, Arthur and Amos Vogeler.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Landon Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
