Gladys Mae Deuschle Emmerich Gordon, age 89, of Corvallis, Oregon, formerly of Russellville, Missouri died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Corvallis Caring Place.
She was born June 19, 1923, in Hickory Hill, Missouri a daughter of Durell and Nora Long Deuschle, who preceded her in death. Gladys was united in marriage to Theodore Oren Emmerich on June 6, 1942 and to this union six children were born. Theodore preceded her in death December 1, 1973. She married Earmen Gordon and Arthur Gordon, who also preceded her in death.
Gladys and Theodore moved to Louisiana in 1959, residing there until his death in 1973. Gladys returned to Missouri to be near family with her three boys in tow. She was a busy mom, who also worked as a library aid in the Cole County R-I school district in Russellville for more than 20 years.
She was a woman of faith, regularly attending the Church of Christ, as long as her health allowed. She liked to keep her mind busy writing letters, reading and cutting out interesting articles and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Gladys kept her hands busy making butterflies out of scrap paper and patching up clothes so they could be worn again. She enjoyed taking drives to look at flowers. She also enjoyed singing and listening to gospel and country music, especially Willie Nelson and Charlie Pride.
Since Ted's death in 2004, Gladys was able to reside with all three daughters, living in Kansas, Virginia and Oregon. She made the best of her declining health and was always trying to lift the spirits of the people around her.
Survivors include four children and their spouses, Nora and Frank Cloutier of Philomath, Oregon; Aleta and Kenneth Fears of Scottsburg, Virginia; Tim and Jane Emmerich of Corvallis, Oregon and Mark and Barbara Emmerich of Eugene; eleven grandchildren fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
A son, Theodore Oren Emmerich II and a daughter, Tessa Byers also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with friends received from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Her son-in-law, Frank Cloutier will officiate.
Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville.
