Geraldine L. Marriott, age 91, of Stover, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at University Hospital in Columbia.
She was born May 29, 1923 in Miller County, a daughter of Ralph and Mary Knight Kinder. On May 31, 1941 at the home of Bro. Butts located south of Stover, Geraldine was united in marriage to Grover Gene Marriott, who survives at their home.
Geraldine was a homemaker, busy raising their daughter and tending to her home. She was also an accomplished seamstress, making many of her daughter's dresses when she was young.
Geraldine enjoyed being outdoors where she spent hours working in the yard and tending to her flower garden. In addition to sewing, Geraldine spent many evenings crocheting doilies.
Geraldine and Grover Gene lived in the Kansas City area for many years. In 1988 they moved back to Central Missouri, and in 1992 made Stover their permanent home.
For most of Geraldine's life she was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church south of Stover. In the early 1990's she joined the Stover First Baptist Church, where she was a faithful, active member until her health began to fail her.
In addition to her husband of almost 74 years, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and John Stephens of Georgetown, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Janet Kinder of North Kansas City; one sister, Helen Taylor of Grain Valley; two grandchildren and their spouses, Angela and John Waters and John and Tami Stephens, six great grandchildren, Sam, Matthew and Kylie Fanning and Creighton, Griffin and Aiden Stephens, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Roy Kinder.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, at the Stover First Baptist Church in Stover with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover First Baptist Church.
