Gerald "Jerry" Strait, age 76, of Stover, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Lawrence, Kansas.
He was born July 24, 1936, in Wisconsin.
Jerry served his country in the US Army.
He owned and operated his own auto body shop in Wisconsin, where he sold restored cars and snowmobiles for more than 40 years.
In early 2000's he moved from Wisconsin to Stover, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring antique and classic cars, going to car shows, playing golf and riding his motorcycle.
He attended the Harvest Time Ministries church in Holts Summit.
He is survived by his wife, Greta Strait of the home; two sons, Sam Strait and Joe Strait of Wisconsin; two daughters, Geraldine Haugh and Kim Cleven both of Wisconsin; two stepsons, John Allen Shaffer of Sweet Springs and Russell Shaffer of Raytown; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Delcie Strait.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Mike Keith officiating.
