George W Milligan, 84, of Stover, MO, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Golden Age Living Center. He was born in Richmond, IN on April 2, 1940, a son of Harland and Lois (Higgins) Milligan, and his step-father Bert Foreman, who preceded him in death.
On June 12, 1960, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover, MO, he married Dorothy Gerlt who preceded him in death on October 18, 2015.
George had a strong work ethic and was dedicated to his career, working as a meat cutter. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover, where his faith was an important part of his life.
He had a love for the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing at Finger Lakes near Columbia, often enjoying friendly competition with Dorothy over who would catch the biggest fish. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and traveling, visiting 19 countries outside the United States. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
George is survived by his three children, Tammy R. Milligan of Petersburg, MO; Debbie S. Milligan of Dallas, TX; and Michael G. Milligan of Houston, TX; two great-granddaughters, Sophia Ellen and Kaylee Bree Fisher; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Allen Braun officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church until the service starts.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
