Gary Don Tucker, age 61, of Platte City, Mo passed away October 16, 2013 at St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born February 5, 1952 in Versailles, Missouri, the third son of Henry and Ruby Morrow Tucker. He was a 1970 graduate of Stockton High School in Stockton, Missouri. He attended college at the University of Missouri-Rolla where he studied mechanical engineering. Gary obtained his private pilot license at the age of 17. Flying planes was a hobby that he enjoyed which later became his life long career. One of his favorite hobbies was rebuilding car engines. He also enjoyed and followed car racing.
He was retired from the VF Corporation in Kansas City, where he worked for more than 25 years as a pilot. In recent years, he enjoyed retirement working on his farm.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Tucker of Friendswood, Texas; a daughter, Lyndsay Funke & husband Jason of Camdenton; a son, Dakota Tucker of Kansas City; a sister Susie Decker & husband Greg of Friendswood, Texas; one grand daughter Zoe, three nieces and four nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Henry Tucker; two brothers Jim Tucker and Bob Tucker and a daughter Cassie Tucker. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a .m. until service time at the funeral home on Monday.
