Gary "Bud" Lee Quirin

June 2, 1941 — May 27, 2011

Gary Lee "Bud" Quirin, age 69, of Stover, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 2, 1941, in Paola, Kansas the son of Orville Morris and Norma Claudene Dixon Quirin.
Gary served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a lineman for the Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City, Kansas until a debilitating injury forced him to retire.
Before his injury, Gary was an avid sportsman, accomplished at basketball, football and golf. In later years he enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and most recently NASCAR.
For the past several years, Gary has resided south of Stover. He kept busy mowing his yard, tinkering on cars (and anything else mechanical) and fishing. He enjoyed reading, especially westerns, biographies and any book that challenged his thinking, he also liked a good game of cards with family and friends.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Trevor McIntyre of Lee's Summit; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeri Ann and Ben Pierson of Chandler, Arizona and Sue and Bill Courtney of Atlanta, Georgia, five nieces, one nephew, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Gary's life, with a time of sharing by family and friends, will be held at his lake home on Saturday, June 11, from 2:00-4:00 P.M.
In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.
