Gail Edward Wiser

Gail Edward Wiser, age 75, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at his home.
He was born October 19, 1936, in Russellville a son of Oscar Benjamin and Eva Scott Wiser. On June 21, 1958, in Lohman, Gail was united in marriage to JoAnn Martin, who survives at their home.
He was a graduate of Russellville High School.
Gail was employed in the gas division of Missouri Power and Light (Ameren UE) in Jefferson City, retiring after 31 years of employment.
He was a faithful member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Russellville, serving as a Trustee for 30 years.
Gail served for 20 years President of the Russellville Fire Department and for the past 20 years he was sexton of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Board, until his health failed him.
He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need and was generous with his hugs to brighten someone's day.
He enjoyed being on his farm, working cattle and driving his tractor. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who truly enjoyed being with his family.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Tammy and Sam Spayde of Russellville; Brad and Julie Wiser of Russellville and Scott and Monica Wiser of Jefferson City; one sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Jim Plaster of Centertown; one brother, Steve Wiser of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Arletta Wiser of Centralia; seven grandchildren, Josh Jacobs and wife Laura, Jessica Onstott and husband J.R., Steve Spayde and wife Mona, Samantha Suthoff and husband Brad, Andrea Wiser and fiancé Jonathan Benne, Reed Wiser and Reagan Wiser, eight great grandchildren, Sammy, Kale, Conner, Cody, Sydney, Owen, Blake and Perry, (a 2nd great granddaughter is due in June) along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin Wiser.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Route AA in Russellville.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Bro. Alan Earls officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Russellville.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus or the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
