Fred L. Johnson, Sr. age 86 of the Ivy Bend community near Stover, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Adams Street Place in Jefferson City.
He was born January 5, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to Lawrence William and Lela Beatrice Johnson.
Fred served his country in the United States Air Force as a Weatherman, receiving his honorable discharge in May of 1955.
He retired from Rival Appliance Manufacturing in Sedalia after many years of employment.
Following his retirement Fred made the Ivy Bend community his home. He was a well-liked member of Ivy Bend and was a great supporter of the Ivy Bend Food Pantry, Ivy Bend Fire and Rescue Department, and the Ivy Bend Youth Center.
For a man his age he was remarkably tech savvy and enjoyed learning how to use and work with all kinds of electronic equipment. Most recently he learned how to use Facetime so he could keep in touch with his "Ivy Bend" family.
He is survived by his special friends, Neal and Paula Hendrix and their children, along with neighbors and many other friends in the Ivy Bend Community.
In keeping with his wishes he was cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date in a Veteran's Cemetery.
