Fred Kenneth Dilley, 83, of California, formerly of Stover, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at Tipton Oak Manor.
He was born August 28, 1938, in Hamilton, MO, a son of Clem W. and Eva F. (Uthe) Dilley. Fred was one of ten children. He had five sisters and four brothers. Fred grew up in Gallatin, MO, where he attended grade school, middle school and high school. He graduated on May 12, 1956.
Fred joined the Armed Forces on June 3, 1956. He was in basic training for combat training and automotive maintenance at Fort Knox Kentucky and finished on November 25, 1956. He served seven years and one month. Fred served six months of active duty and was Private 1st Class in the Army Reserves. Later after the service he worked at Gates Rubber CO. n Versailles from where he retired.
On April 13, 1990, in Miami, OK, Fred married Elva Lucille Webb who preceded him in death on September 24, 2013. They were happily married for 23 years, first living in Stover, MO, and then moving to California, MO where they lived with their daughter Betty Jenkins and her husband Paul.
He had enjoyed a full life with Lucille, they both enjoyed gardening, their two dogs, Carley and Rocky. Fred loved dancing with Lucille and attending the Baptist Church in Stover.
Surviving are three step-daughters, Betty Jenkins and family of California, MO, Gloria Butts and family of Neosho, MO, Brenda Phillips of Rocky Comfort, MO. Fred was a good stepdad to all of his girls’ checking fluids and maintenance of their cars every time they visited. He was a good husband, to Lucille and he will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Stover Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Donor’s Choice.
