Floyd R. Golding

Floyd R. Golding, age 69, of Stover, passed away, Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at his home.
He was born May 13, 1944, in Elgin, Illinois a son of John and Dorothy Snyder Golding. On May 2, 1980, in Huntsville, Alabama, Floyd married Jenny Ehlers, who survives at their home.
For several years, Floyd and Jenny owned and operated "The Golden Touch," which was a furniture repair shop in Stover. He most recently was employed with Regal-Beloit in Lincoln, until his health began to fail him.
Floyd was a master craftsman, who enjoyed turning wood into beautiful projects or restoring broken and neglected furniture into functional pieces again. He was also a collector of classic cars, especially 50 and 60 ‘s Cruisers, which as a young man he would rebuild and then drag race.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepmother, Mary Golding of Loveland, Colorado; three sons, Monte Golding of Elgin, Illinois; Jeffrey Golding and Eric Golding, both of Wisconsin; three daughters, Misty Dawn Golding of Huntsville, Alabama; Michelle Laas and husband Andy of Stover and Sonya Mertgen and husband Ernie of Florence; one brother, John Golding, Jr., and wife Annie of Elgin, Illinois; two sisters, Dottie Moran of Oregon and Linda Blackwell of Colorado ; Six grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, Katy, Tiffany, Madeline and Nigel, two great grandchildren, Cole and Ryan, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his father, mother and one great granddaughter, Addison.
A Celebration of Floyd's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Pastor Diane Cutler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Goldschmidt Cancer Center in Jefferson City.
