Elvan Albert Wahlers

Elvan A. Wahlers, age 86, of Stover, died Monday, December 13, 2010, at the University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born April 26, 1924, in Pyrmont, a son of David and Dora Weicken Wahlers. On May 1, 1949, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont, Elvan was united in marriage to Ruth Ehlers, who survives at their home.
He was a 1943 graduate of Stover High School.
Elvan was a lifelong farmer.
He was a faithful and active member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover, serving as an Elder and Recording Secretary for many years and as a member of the Constitution committee, when the new constitution for the church was being redrawn.
He was active in the Morgan County Farm Services Agency.
Elvan enjoyed being on the farm, collecting arrowheads and being with his family.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three children, Dianne Conner and husband Ronnie, Linda Ingersoll and husband Dale and Gary Wahlers and wife Kathryn all of Stover; seven grandchildren, Lisa Uptegrove and husband Micah, Sherry Franscoviak and husband Tim, Ronnie Lee Conner and wife Dr. Katie Friedebach, Carol Nairn, James Ingersoll and wife Kimberly, Kristopher Wahlers and wife Beth and Amy Wahlers, fifteen great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 16, at the St Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment will be in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 15, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the St. Pauls Lutheran School.
