Elmer F. Ott

Elmer Frank Ott, age 84, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born August 7, 1928, in Russellville, a son of Herman H. and Louise Sauer Ott, who preceded him in death. He was baptized September 1, 1928, and confirmed April 2, 1944, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville. On November 1, 1953, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmer was united in marriage to Della Goldammer, who survives at their home. He was a graduate of Russellville grade and high school. Elmer served in the Korean War, stationed in Japan as an Engineer Troop Supply Sergeant, receiving his Honorable Discharge November 9, 1956, with the rank of Sergeant. He was employed with DeLong Inc., in Jefferson City for 61 years, retiring in 2011.
Elmer was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, serving on the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Perpetual Board. He was very active in Boy Scout Troop 96, in Russellville, serving as Scout Master for 12 years and the Committee District for 9 years. He was a member of the American Legion Moreau Valley Post 476, a life member of VFW Post 1003 in Jefferson City, a member of the Russellville Lions Club, a member of the Heisinger Board and the Heisinger Auxiliary. He also served on the Russellville City Council and as a volunteer for the Russellville food bank. Elmer loved his job and thoroughly enjoyed designing and installing wrought iron railings and other items he made. He fabricated the cross that stands at the entrance of Trinity Lutheran Cemetery and the arch in the church hall. Elmer donated the bulletin board and wrought iron on the church property. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and also took great pride in caring for his lawn. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael Gregory and Karen Bond Ott of Russellville; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman "Jr." and Carol Ott of Lohman; a sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and John Davis of Jefferson City; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor William Say officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Russellville. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Perpetual Cemetery General Fund, the Trinity Lutheran Window Fund or Russellville Boy Scout Troop 96.
