Eldrid Beckmann, age 86, of Stover passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
It was on the 10th day of July in 1936 when George and Minnie Alpers Beckmann welcomed their son, Eldrid George, into their home at the family farm on Highway FF in Stover.
He was baptized on July 26, 1936. He was confirmed April 2, 1950 and his confirmation verse was Psalm 145:18-19, "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them."
Eldrid was a 1954 graduate of Morgan County R-1 Stover High School.
On August 24, 1963, he was united in marriage to Katheryn Proehl at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was able to farm his whole life; even on the hard days still enjoying what he did. This lead him to like IH tractors.
He has been a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church never missing a Sunday unless he was sick or there was bad weather.
Eldrid liked softball, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams, plus all other sports especially MU basketball. Eldrid was proud of many things in his life, but his family was always what he enjoyed most.
Left to carry on his legacy is his wife, Kathy of Stover; three sons, Darren Beckmann and wife Anna, Scott Beckmann all of Stover, and Brian Beckmann and wife Emilia of Jefferson City; one brother, Harold Beckmann; one sister, Ilene Behnke both of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Austin Beckmann, Taylor Fowler, Jessica Noble, Kara Beckmann, and Jonathon Beckmann; five great grandchildren with one on the way; along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Schad and husband Bill and a brother-in-law, Wilmont Behnke.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Gerald Kurka officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran School.
