Douglas Wayne Distler

December 19, 1963 — March 30, 2014

Douglas Wayne Distler, age 50, of Centertown, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 , at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.   Doug was born on December 19, 1963 in Jefferson City, son of Marvin and Wilma Brauner Distler, Centertown. He shared his life with Carolyn Corum who survives at the home.  Doug was an avid racing fan and was dedicated to getting his racing family home safely.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as fishing, hunting and being on the river.  He also loved his three labs, Harley, Hannah and Hank.  He was a stranger to no one.  You could always hear him before you saw him.  Doug donated his organs to the Midwest Transplant Network and his hair to Locks of Love.   Survivors include one daughter, Samantha Maree Distler (fiance Dalton Gates), two sisters, Toni Amos (Darrell) and Billie Sue Boltin (Andy Rank), two nephews, Justin Patterson (Jessie Mahoney) and Kevin Boltin and one great nephew, Braxton Patterson. His extended family included Carol's children, one daughter, Dana Ferguson (Craig), two sons, Thomas Corum and Matthew Corum (Erin) and two granddaughters, Sierra Ferguson and Sadie Corum.  Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 4, beginning at 4:00 with a Celebration service at 7:00 p.m.at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.  A private interment will be in the Centertown Cementary at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Douglas Wayne Distler Memorial Fund.
