Doris E. Thomas

November 19, 1937 — March 21, 2019

Doris E. Stevenson Thomas age 81, of Camdenton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, March 21, 2019, at her home.

She was born November 19, 1937, on the family farm in Morgan County, one of two daughters born to Cecil Wray and Flossie Riggs Stevenson.

Doris attended Versailles High School.

While working at Fort Leonard Wood Army Post, she met Ira “Skip” Thomas, who happened to be stationed at the Post.  On September 13, 1980, at Fort Leonard Wood, Doris and Skip were married.

For most of her life she worked in the accounting department of various businesses; retiring from Kelly’s Port Marina in Osage Beach.

Doris had a love for Native American History and enjoyed learning about their culture.  She and Skip would attend Pow-Wow’s ever chance they could until some recent health concerns kept her closer to home.

Wherever she went, she was always dressed impeccably and she looked forward to shopping with, and for, her daughters and granddaughters.  Doris never met a stranger and her love for her family showed in everything she did.

In addition to her husband of 39 years, she is survived by two daughters, Lokeene Bowersox and husband Rodney of Versailles and Kara Webb and fiancé Chuck Dipasquale of Camdenton; three step sons, Clinton Thomas and wife Lisa of Kansas; Wesley Thomas and wife Stephanie of Ohio and Alan Thomas and wife Carol of Texas; one sister, Lois Vansell of Versailles; four grandchildren, Russell Sebren of Jackpot, Idaho; Necole Olmstead Sherwin and husband Gary of Camdenton; Adam Khachi of Camdenton and Remington Webb of Hampton, Virginia; four great grandchildren, Gary Daniel, Hunter and Lyla Sherwin and Jacob Sebren, along with other relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Wray Stevenson and Flossie Stevenson Williams, her step father, Norman Williams, her grandparents, Lem and Fannie Stevenson and Osborn and Lillie Riggs and her brother-in-law, Frank Vansell.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Richard Willis officiating.  Interment will be in the Oak Park Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
