Doris Ann (Robertson) DeJarnette

Doris Ann DeJarnette, age 88, formerly of Tipton, MO, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover, MO. She was born on March 11, 1935, in Cooper County, MO, to George and Florence (Baker) Robertson, both of whom preceded her in death. Doris was married to Charles Lewis DeJarnette, who also preceded her in death in 1985.

Surviving her are four children: Brenda Houghton (Bill) of Ocala, FL, Gary DeJarnette (Deanne) of Martinsville, MO, Jeff DeJarnette (Cinda) of Gravois Mills, MO, and Paul DeJarnette (Erin) of Gravois Mills, MO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Aaron and Jeremy Capps and Lucas Vaughn, Shaun DeJarnette, Dave and Andy DeJarnette, Ryan, Jon, and Kate DeJarnette, along with nine great-grandchildren: Jacob, Luke, Abby, Austin, Ethan, Oli, Aspen, Finley, and Aiden. Doris leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Etta Mirick (Jack) and Margarite McCully (Thomas), as well as eight siblings: Sylvia Laffer (Henry), Bertie Shoemaker (Bill), Marvin Robertson (Edith), Roy Robertson (Phyllis), Junior Robertson (Opal), Jewel Robertson (Olive), Beverly Jane Robertson, and Dick Robertson (Pauline).

Doris had a diverse career as a homemaker, seamstress, and employee at Primo Pants Company in Versailles and Fasco Industries in Eldon. She had a passion for gardening, especially tending to her strawberry plants. Doris enjoyed yard sales, flea markets, and engaging in buying and selling. In her earlier years, she even operated a florist shop. Family gatherings were dear to her heart, where she delighted in serving an array of comfort foods. One grandson affectionately referred to her as "the glue" that kept the family close. Doris was a proud member of the Baptist Church.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Meisenheimer Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton, MO. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Dan Hankins. Burial will take place at Syracuse Baptist Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers include Gary DeJarnette, Paul DeJarnette, Jeff DeJarnette, Aaron Capps, Jeremy Capps, Ryan, Jon DeJarnette, and Andy DeJarnette.
