Donice JoAnn Oehrke, age 81, of Stover, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born October 2, 1931, in Stover, a daughter of Walter P. and Hulda Rosa Fajen Alpers. She was baptized October 18, 1931, and confirmed March 25, 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover. The confirmation verse chosen was Matthew 24:13, "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." On August 7, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover, Donice was united in marriage to Glenn Oehrke, who preceded her in death January 6, 1992.
She was a 1949 graduate of Stover High School.
Donice worked as a customer service representative for Smithson's Inc. in Stover for many years.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover.
Donice enjoyed supporting community and church activities, visiting with family and friends and cooking for her guests.
Survivors include three children, Linda Metscher and husband Curtis, Galen Oehrke and Jonathan Oehrke all of Stover; a brother, Robert Alpers and wife Evelyn of Stover; a sister, LeAnne Dale of Stover; four grandchildren, Travis Dority and wife Kaye, Ashley, Tiffany and William Metscher, seven great grandchildren, Kelsey, Justine, Austin, Quinten, Kendra, Cole and Ryan, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Donice was preceded in death by her parents and one great granddaughter, Addison.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m.
