Donald Lee McCurry

April 22, 1944 — April 25, 2013

Don McCurry, 69, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Stover, MO. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, April 22, 1944 to the late Thelma Mae (Wilder) and Charles Christopher McCurry. He was a graduate of Fife High School and a Veteran of the US Navy, where he served on the USS Renshaw. He received BS in Business from St. Edwards University in 1990. He began his career as a technician at Sperry Corporation and spent the next 44 years in the defense industry. He retired after 25 years at BAE Systems as the Director of Operations in Nashua, NH. He was very active in the community and served as a little league coach, the treasurer of the Caldwell County Humane Society, the Stover fair board as well as the board of the Nashua Children's Home. He was also very active in planning his ship's reunion for the past 15 years. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Gertrude Leroy Slattery, his parents and his constant feline companion, Alison. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet (Thomas) whom he married on March 17, 1967. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Patrick Michael of Milford, NH and Erin TenleyAnn of Hudson, NH. His family was his pride and joy. He is also survived by a sister, Terry (Al) Cramer of Sumner, WA and a sister in law Jane (Steve) Young of Washington, MO, nieces and nephews, Eva Webster, Jim (Brandi) Young, Kyle (Katie) Young, Barbara (Jeremy) Hammond, a cousin, Bill (Cathie) Brunjes and several great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations made be made to Don's favorite charity, St. Jude's Research Center. Services and burial will be held in New Hampshire and a celebration of life will be held in Stover in the summertime. Although it was a life cut short, it was a life complete. When they carve his stone they'll write these words "He lies a man who lived life for all its worth" and the motto he lived by, Go Navy Beat Army!
