Donald Wallace Hughes

Donald "Don" Wallace Hughes, age 71, of Versailles, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, February 6, 2015, at his home.
He was born August 1, 1943, in Liberty, a son of Wallace Cecil and Ola Lolita Bartels Hughes, who preceded him in death. On April 12, 2014, Don was united in marriage to Lisa Carter Burrows who survives at their home.
He was a graduate of North Kansas City High School and served his country in the US Air Force.
Don lived in the Kansas City area for many years before moving to the Versailles area. He worked as a photographer, car salesman and later an author, penning the book "Escape from Boonville."
He liked writing, woodworking and a good meal. He was also a lover of Classical music, however, his greatest enjoyment came from being with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife Lisa, he is survived by eight children, Veronica Strickland and husband David, of Tunas; Dawn Marie Endrijaitis and husband Keith of Independence; Diana Hughes of Corpus Christi, Texas; Brandi Hughes and husband Allan Balcom of New Braunfels, Texas; April Willis and husband Tim of Haysville, Kansas; Michelle Williams and husband Sam of Haysville, Kansas; Jonathan Petefish of Logansville, Georgia and Donald "D.J." Hughes of Queen Creek, Arizona; one stepson; Cory Malone of Columbia; one brother, twenty grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. At this time no services are planned.
