Delores June Lewis

Delores June Lewis, 77, of Syracuse, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 22, 2016 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was one of 4 girls born to David Richard and Verna Marion Kruse in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Delores and Johnnie Lewis were married February 1, 1957 and celebrated 59 and ½ years of marriage together. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Florence for many years.

She enjoyed being a farm wife, living on the farm and working together with her husband. She was an extraordinary gardener both with vegetables and flowers, was an excellent seamstress, and was always concerned about the well-being of her family and friends. She loved the outdoors looking forward to deer hunting each fall and was especially fond of fishing. She took good care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her pets, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter Janice June Lewis.

She is survived by husband Johnnie R. Lewis of the home; daughter Rita McNeal and her husband Bill of Florence; granddaughter Melanie Rich and her husband Shan; grandson Patrick McNeal and his wife Heather; great-grandchildren Peyton, Jace, and Leah McNeal, Aiyana and Emery Rich; sisters Yvonne Williams and her husband Homan of Sedalia, Dixie Meyer and Mickie Meyer of Otterville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Delores Lewis will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Florence with burial to follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 AM prior to the funeral service.

Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Cemetery.
