Debi D Newman

Debi D. Newman, age 61, of Stover, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.
She was born September 20, 1954, in Kansas City, a daughter of Bill and Gloria Rex Crist. On June 6, 1992, in Stover, Debi was united in marriage to Elmer L. Newman, who survives at their home.
Debi grew up in Independence and was a 1972 graduate of Raytown High School.
She worked at various locations in the Kansas City area before moving to Stover with Elmer following his retirement.
She was employed for several years with NuStyle Quilting in Stover.
Debi had an artistic eye, which she put to good use making craft items. However her greatest enjoyment came from being a grandma and spoiling her grandkids.
In addition to her husband, Elmer, she is survived by two children and their spouses, Mindy and John Thomas of Bates City and Ryan and Kelly Thornton of Stover; a stepson, Kevin Newman and wife Tammy of Raytown; two sisters, Vicki Pundmann and husband Dan of Lee's Summit and Sandi Michel of Owensville; four grandchildren, Meagan and Jack Thomas and Vivy and Owen Thornton, three step grandchildren, Jessica Davis and husband Dillon, Emily and Ashley Newman, four nieces, Lauren and Lindsey Pundmann and Amanda and Shelby Bramlette, along with other relatives and friends.
Debi was preceded in death by her parents.
In keeping with her wishes, she was cremated.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, at the Pleasant Union Cemetery in Stover.
