David L. Sutton, age 62, of Stover, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the University Hospital in Columbia, following a sudden illness. He was born January 2, 1951, in Mitchell, a son of Albert L. and Naomi Wallace Sutton. David married Brenda Brooks and to this union four children were born. Brenda survives in Stover. He was an Army veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam War. David worked for the Versailles Redi-Mix concrete plant for many years and later worked in construction until his health failed him. He enjoyed being outdoors, running his bulldozer and watching the goats and chickens on his farm. He liked a good Clint Eastwood Western, visiting with family and friends, but most of all being with his grandkids. David never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.
Survivors include his fiancee, Sabrina Jordan of the home; three children, Albert Sutton and wife Angela of Sedalia; Daniel David Sutton and wife Heather of Pleasant Hope and Neoma June Jackson of Stover; a son-in-law, David Jackson of Stover; one stepson, Chris White of Stover; three brothers, Winfred "Wimp" Sutton of Park Hills; Carl Sutton and wife Alma of DeSoto and Joe Sutton and wife Laura of Bonne Terre; two sisters, Caroline Loomis of Titusville, Florida and Lisa Allee and husband Tim of Sedalia; eighteen grandchildren, Tammy, Sara, David, James, Jr., Timmy, Leo Jr., Kaylee, Dakota, Sierra, Robert, Tiffany and husband Jason, Jake and wife Sara, Josh, Justin, Allen, Anthony, Josie and Madisen, three great grandchildren, Jenna, Shelby and Logan, along with nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Lee Sutton, a granddaughter, Rebecca Ann, two brothers, Pete Lester and Charles Sutton, a sister, Patsy Black and two siblings who died in infancy. A Memorial Graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, in the Stover Cemetery with Pastor Steve Venable officiating. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to attended the pot luck luncheon at the Jackson home on Mulberry Lane in Stover. So bring your lawn chairs, a favorite dish and your memories of David. Memorial contributions are suggested to the David L. Sutton Memorial Fund.
