David L. Morff

April 21, 1943 — October 11, 2014

David L. Morff, age 71, of St. Martins, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, October 11, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 21, 1943, in St. Thomas, a son of Felix and Rosa Theresa "Rose" Gerling Morff. On July 15, 1967, at St. Martins Catholic Church, Dave was united in marriage to Jane Eggen; which was the last wedding to take place in the original church. Jane survives at their home.
He was an Army veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam era.
He was a welder with DeLong Steel in Jefferson City, retiring after 44 years of employment.
Dave was a faithful member of the St. Martins Catholic Church, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus #7194.
He served on the City of St. Martins Park Board and as a city councilman. He was a member of the Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post and the NRA.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his farm, where he could often be found on his Allis-Chalmers tractor. His greatest enjoyment however, came from being with his family.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by two children, Jennifer Green and husband Brian of Holts Summit and Mark Morff and girlfriend Dana Bise of Jefferson City; one granddaughter, Megan Green, Dana's son, Zach Bise, nine siblings, Glenda Stone of Columbia; Bill Morff and wife Mary Beth of St. Louis; Rich Morff and wife Kim of Lohman; Angie Stegeman and husband Aaron of Jefferson City; Jerry Morff and wife Cinderella of Lohman; Alice Barnes and husband Steve, Bette Morff,
Debbie Moad and Cindy Morff all of Jefferson City; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, Marcella Morff, an infant brother, Joseph Morff and two brothers-in-law, Skip Stone and Doyle Moad.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at St. Martins Catholic Church with Father Ed Schmidt officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the St. Martins Catholic Cemetery.
A Prayer Service will be held at 3:30 p.m., with the family will receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, at the St. Martins Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Martins Catholic School, St. Martins Catholic Church or the Niekamp Park.
