Darline Mathis

Darline F. Mathis, age 95, of Stover, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born March 13, 1920, in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of LeRoy and Grace Evelyn Schaufler Rigsby. On March 21, 1941, Darline married Victor C. Mathis and to this union two daughters were born. Victor preceded her in death April 19, 1994.
Darline was a graduate of Paseo High School in Kansas City.
She was a homemaker, busy raising her two girls. Over the years Darline worked at Katz Drug Company, Johns Pharmacy and Hallmark, all located in Kansas City. After moving to the Stover area in 1981, she worked for several years at Bass Point Resort in Sunrise Beach.
Darline enjoyed spending time outside, where she could work in her flower garden, take long walks, and take care of her cats. She had resided in her own home until her health failed her within the past few months.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sharon Mathis of Rushville and Vicki Harrison and husband Paul of Stover; two sisters, Maxine Whitney of Conover, North Carolina and Norma Bedell of Harrisonville; along with other relatives and friends.
Darline was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles LeRoy Rigsby and one sister, Loraine Hensley.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
