Dale Andrew Bestgen

June 8, 1955 — April 5, 2020

Dale Andrew Bestgen, age 64 of Bunceton, Mo. passed away Sunday evening, April 5, 2020 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, Mo. Dale was born June 8, 1955 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Andrew and Alice Bestgen. Along with his two sisters, Dale was raised on the farm in Bunceton that has been in the family for a number of generations. He went to St. Andrew's grade school and graduated high school in Tipton, Missouri and has been a lifelong member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He began his career with the US Corp of Engineers as a GS-5 construction inspector on April 23, 1979 at the Harry S. Truman Resident Office before water was impounded. Some of the highlights of his career: he was assigned to the construction management teams for the B-2 bomber bed down Whiteman Air Force Base, BRAC 95; Ft. Leonard Wood, construction of the Max Security Prison and the Lewis and Clark Command and General Staff College - Ft. Leavenworth; was stationed in Mosul, Iraq during the Global War on Terrrorism; KC-46A tanker bed down at McConnell Air Force Base and the current new Lake City Army Ammunition Plant Resident Office. Dale was the proud recipient of the Bronze Order of de Fleury Medal which is attributable to the members of the teams he had the privilege to serve with. Dale's food for thought, "when at Whiteman AFB some of the facilities I was associated with were advertised as the most "technically advanced: and now they are being replaced because they are considered obsolete. Lesson learned here....keep learning and be open to new ideas!" Needless to say, Dale was very dedicated to his job.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Alice Bestgen.

Surviving Dale are sons Cory Dale Bestgen and wife Kara of Jefferson City, Mo. and Calen Andrew Bestgen and wife Lori of Tipton, Mo.; daughter Colby Ranee Lehman and husband Jonathan of Tipton, Mo.; grandchildren George, Rose, Susan, Cora, August, Andreas and Werner Bestgen all of Jefferson City, Willis and Thomas Lehman of Tipton, and Andrew, Alice, Harper and Henry Bestgen of Tipton; sisters Debra Imhoff and husband Glenn of Bellevue, Neb. and Kelly Dockins and husband Jim of Kansas City, Mo. and many friends and co-workers.

A private family prayer service will be held at 9:00 am Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
