Cynthia Lynn "Cindy" Berkstresser, age 60, of rural Versailles, passed away Monday morning, December 24, 2007, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
She was born June 9, 1947, in West Branch, Michigan, a daughter of Dr. Dale M. and Isabella Crank Mills. On November 1, 1963, she married Leon Berkstresser and he preceded her in death May 31, 2007.
Cindy was a 1965 graduate of Versailles High School. She graduated from Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for many years at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. Most recently Cindy volunteered at the Jack Gunn Free Clinic in Versailles, even while fighting her own battle against cancer.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and horses.
Survivors include her four children, Lisa Stafford and husband Jerry of Gravois Mills; Joe Berkstresser and wife Debbie of Stover; Tuffy Berkstresser and wife Lisa of Sunrise Beach and Patrick Berkstresser and wife Pamela of Stover; one sister, Cherri Sims and husband Ronnie of Sturgeon; one brother, Curt Mills and wife Penny of Florence; eight grandchildren, Alex Stafford, Ashley, Cathy and Brandon Berkstresser, Bradley and Adrienne Berkstresser and Zoey and Zander Berkstresser, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Cindy was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont with Pastor Paul Kelly and Pastor Sandy Schlesselman officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bethlehem Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont or the Jack Gunn Free Clinic.
In keeping with her wishes, Cindy was cremated.
