Clyde Irvin Gerber

Clyde Irvin Gerber, age 87, of Tipton, MO, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Tipton Oak Manor.

Clyde was born March 12, 1935, in Latham, MO, the son of Floyd and Dorothy (Bayne) Gerber, who preceded him in death.

On September 15, 1957, in rural California, MO, he married the love of his life, Ruby Elaine Hill, who survives of the home.

Clyde worked as a purchasing agent for Co-Mo Electric Cooperative for 28 years, retiring on March 31, 1997. Prior to Co-Mo, he worked in retail at various locations. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Tipton where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He loved to sing in the choir and men’s quartet.

In addition to his wife of sixty-five years, he is survived by three children, Carey Gerber (Angie) of Boonville, Rita Ketterlin (Joe) of Tipton, and Todd Gerber (Amy) of Jefferson City; one sister, Marjorie Knipp of Lee’s Summit; eight grandchildren, Carrie Thurnes (Scott), Brianne Ketterlin (James), Rachel Drane (Alec), Jestine Gerber, Haley Hallford (Alden), Brianna Allen (Seth), Logan Schulte (Emily), and Mackenzie Woodson (Sam); eight great-grandchildren, Jalen, Kylen, Jamey, Ethan, Joleigh, Julian, Romyn, and Isla; and four great great-grandchildren, Ayden, Jayla, Calvin, and Oaklyn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded on death by his infant brother, Bennie Joe Gerber and brother-in-law, Donald Knipp.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Tipton, MO. Memorial Services will follow at 12:00 PM at the church with Rev. Jared Rivera, officiating. A private interment will take place in the California City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Baptist Church, Tipton, MO.
