Clementine Elizabeth Enloe, age 91, of Chappell, Nebraska and previously a life-long resident of Missouri passed away at Memorial Care Center in Chappell on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.
Clementine was born April 11, 1925 in Garden City, Kansas to Ross George and Lillian Irene (Doll) Martin. Clementine was united in marriage to Rev. Linley A. Enloe on March 7, 1943 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Olean, Missouri. He preceded her in death January 15, 1973.
Clementine grew up in Boise City, Oklahoma. She lived through the great dust bowl and Black Sunday of 1935. Her parents moved the family back to Missouri right after that to the Olean farm. She graduated from Olean High School in 1942.
Clementine became a Christian and joined Mt. Herman Baptist Church, when she was ten years old. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and currently a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri. She consistently read the Bible. Along with her husband, she provided their children a secure, loving Christian home.
Clementine was a homemaker most of her life, raising her three daughters and assisting her husband with church activities and the farm. One of her children's fondest memories was that she was always at home. She was up early in the morning with breakfast ready and the vitamins by their plates, so they would be healthy. When the kids got off the bus, she was there to greet them. She worked very hard at being a homemaker and sang Christian hymns as she went about her work. She enjoyed many activities of being a homemaker-working in the garden, canning, baking bread and pumpkin pies. She took pleasure in taking care of her flowers and was an excellent seamstress, making nearly all of the children's clothes. She liked quilting and made many quilts. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture, painting, and decorating her house. One of her hobbies was collecting coffee cups from all over the country. She loved music and reading. She could play the piano by ear. After her husband passed away, she worked for many years at the Northwest Missouri State College cafeteria in St. Joseph, Missouri. Her greatest enjoyment came from her family. After retirement, she spent many hours babysitting her grandchildren and baking pumpkin pies for the grandchildren for Thanksgiving.
In addition to her husband, Clementine was preceded in death by her parents, one son Linley Don Enloe, one sister, Helen Jenkins, and one brother, George Martin, and a son in law, Donald W. Austin.
Survivors include three daughters: Margaret Austin, Missouri, Naomi Cox and husband, Steve, of Texas, and Mary Omega Clark and husband, Steve, of Nebraska. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Donald Austin, Edward Austin, and Elizabeth Austin of Missouri, Jeffrey Austin and wife, Betsy, of Kansas, Dustin Cox and wife, Laura, and Dixie Briscoe and husband, Michael, of Texas, and Daniel Cox of Colorado, Dr. Shiuvaun Jaeger and husband, Sam, and Martin Couch of Nebraska, and Sheila Couch of Colorado. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Samantha Austin of Missouri, Tony Cleveland of Kansas, Tyler and Caitlin Cox, Jacob, Steven, Tanner and Seaman Braden Wheeler of Texas, and Michael Jaeger of Nebraska. She is also survived by one great-great grandson Zander Cleveland and many nieces and nephews.
