Clay Edward Langley, Sr., age 64, of Stover, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 9, 2014, at his home. He was born March 13, 1950, in Mexico, Missouri a son of Isaac and Maurine Suber Langley. On September 18, 1971, in Marshall, Missouri, Clay was united in marriage to Donna Whitney at Bethany Baptist Church. Donna survives at their home. Clay was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was self-employed as a mechanic and tow-truck driver. If you knew Clay, you knew he had racing in his veins. He was a three-time USHRA National Champion and an inductee in the Missouri Mud Racing Hall of Fame. He was also an avid supporter of his son's Pro-Modified racing at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland. Clay was a family man, taking his wife and son with him during his racing career and being at every race his son was in. He was especially fond being with his grandchildren and enjoyed every minute he could spend with them. In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clay, Jr. (Bub) and Misty Langley of Stover; his father, James Johns of Grafton, Illinois; five siblings, Katherine Otken and husband Alvin and Ruth Scott and husband Eddie all of Marshall; Betty Reynolds of Slater; Lee Johns and wife Cheryl of Columbia, South Carolina and Angie Weiner and husband Kevin of Grafton, Illinois; two grandchildren, Kinser and Kaylynn, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Stover Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clay Langley Memorial Fund.
