Claude Rex Decker, age 88, of Versailles MO. quietly passed away at 9:55 a.m. on July 6, 2024, at Stonebridge Senior Living, where he had been to receive therapy for a broken shoulder.
It was on the 8th day of June 1936 when Claude and Orphia welcomed their new son Claude Rex Decker (commonly known as “Rex”) into their home just outside of St. Joseph, MO.
On December 3rd. 1956 Rex was joined in marriage to Frances Jones in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Rex and Frances were happily married for 66 years, raising a family of four boys and one daughter, until Fran’s death 17 months before his.
Rex had worked and owned dairy farms and retired as a Missouri DHIA Milk Inspector most of life. With his whole life being devoted to being a Genuine Ol Time Cowboy. Rex with his family owned, raised and used horses and mule most all of his 88yrs.
When Rex wasn’t working with his horses, he was talking with his friends about them or out hunting hay or enjoying a visit with family or friends. He had one of the first computers in the country and spent many an hour working with family genealogy searches of his family and the families of others.
Rex was preceded in death by his wife Frances, and his daughter Teresa Gilpin along with his parents, and siblings. Rex was the last one of his generation.
Left to carry on his legacy is his four sons, Rodney Decker and his wife Tyan, of Versailles, MO., Roger Decker of Dixon, MO., Frank Decker and his wife Julie, of El Dorado Springs, MO., and Lance Decker and his wife Treasa, of Versailles, MO. numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great - Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, Rex will be cremated and laid to rest beside his wife Frances and daughter Teresa, and most all his family.
Rex’s Celebration of Life will be at the Trinity Southern Baptist Church (13547 Church Rd., Versailles, Mo.) Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10am. To 12 noon. With the graveside inurnment afterwards at Ritchie Cemetery, (on Ritchie Road off TT Hwy, Versailles, MO.)
