Christopher Joseph "Chris" O'Bryan, Sr., age 49, of Versailles, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born December 15, 1962, in Florissant, a son of George "Buzz" and Mary O'Bryan.
Chris was united in marriage to Ruby L. Hardey on October 3, 2003, in Versailles, and she survives at their home.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Chris was a former deputy for the Morgan County Sheriff's Department and an officer with the Lake Ozark Police Department. He also worked as a truck driver, most recently for Ozark Ready Mix, until his health failed him.
Chris' true passion was working with, and training canines to work in law enforcement. His dream came true when he became the proud handler of Duchess, Morgan County's first drug canine.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mary O'Bryan of Florissant; a son and daughter-in-law, C.J., Jr., and Dana O'Bryan of Laurie; a daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Barry Wagoner of Ft. Riley, Kansas; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Barb O'Bryan of St. Charles; two sisters, Ann O'Bryan of St. Louis and Maria O'Bryan of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren, Bryer and Allison Shackelford, Domunik O' Bryan, Ryleigh Nicholas, and Peyton and Taelyn Waldren; along with other relatives and many friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his father and one granddaughter, Tessa Wagoner.
