Charlotte Diane McClellen, age 58, of Stover, died shortly before Midnight on Monday, October 15, 2012, at University Hospital in Columbia.
She was born November 2, 1953, in Lexington, a daughter of Richard Lee and Mollie C. Campbell Shadwick, both deceased. On May 19, 1990, in Canton, Texas, Charlotte was united in marriage to Robert "Oscar" McClellen, who preceded her in death March 9, 2010.
Charlotte and Oscar moved to Stover almost eight years ago from Canton, Texas. She was most recently employed as a cashier at Bi-Lo in Warrensburg. She was also studying Criminal Justice at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, until her health no longer allowed her to attend classes. On October 13, of this year, Charlotte received an Honorary Degree, presented to her by President Marsha Drennon of SFCC.
She enjoyed painting and sewing. However, her greatest enjoyment came from the time she could spend with her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Troy McClellen, Boonville; one stepson, Marty McClellen and wife Lisa, Canton, Texas; six stepdaughters, Julie McClellen, Kaufman, Texas; Sabrena Franklin, Alabama; Kathy Gill and husband David, Mt. Carmel, Illinois; Jennifer McClellen, Canton, Texas; Paula Bradshaw and husband Brad, Alba, Texas and Penny McClellen, Canton, Texas; seven brothers, Britt Shadwick and wife Carol, Stover; Robert Shadwick and wife Lesia, St. Joseph; James Merchant, Emporia, Kansas; Kenny Wilson and companion Pam Steen and Charles Wilson and wife Kim all of Leeton; John Wilson, Louisburg, Kansas and James Strohkirch and wife Jackie, Raymore; two sisters, Jane Taylor and husband Mark and Susie Knight all of Odessa; seventeen grandchildren (with one on the way), three great grandchildren (with one due in December), along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Wilson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 20, at the Stover United Methodist Church, with friends received from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Pastor Diane Cutler will officiate. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Charlotte McClellen Memorial Fund.
