Charles E. Thomas, age 82, of Versailles died Wednesday, November 24, 2009, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
Charlie was an Air Force veteran, serving his country during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force on October 1, 1967, as a Master Sergeant, after 20 years of service.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 320 in Versailles. He was also an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sullivan Thomas of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Juanita Thomas of Louisiana, Missouri and David and Tina Thomas of Key Largo, Florida; one daughter, Lona Craft of Billings, Montana; four grandchildren, Michael Craft, Heather, Jessica and Bobbi Mahlan, two great grandchildren, Jaden Garcia and Reef David Irwin, also other relatives and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by one son, Charles E. Thomas, Jr.
A Masonic service was held Saturday, November 28, at the United Methodist Church in Versailles. Ed Smith shared memories. Pastor Barry Fielder closed with a prayer. Interment, with military funeral honors, was in the Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorial contributions were suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
