Cary B “C.B.” Shaw passed away November 25, 2023, at his home in Stover, MO.
C.B. was born on November 7, 1930, in Zanesville, OH, to Tillman Shaw and Lydia Huff. He grew up in difficult times during the Depression. He faced many challenges during his upbringing. He joined the Navy at 17 after talking his mother into writing him a note saying he was 18. He then served eight years in the Navy, leaving only to join the Air Force from which he returned after serving another twenty years.
C.B. then became a civil servant for the Department of Army. He was very proud of his military time and flew the United States flag outside of every home that he owned.
In 1979, he was united in marriage to Susan K. Huff Barth at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ. They were a formidable team, working together to make a home they both dreamed of. They had many adventures camping in many state and national parks, including trips within Yosemite, as well as Mexico. They were always a united pair, devoted to each other.
C.B.’s family was his most valued thing. He cared for them by fixing all that broke, bailing them out of every catastrophe. He loved jokes and told Susan a joke before falling asleep the first twenty years they were married.
He previously attended Stover United Methodist Church and was a member of the Stover American Legion. Another passion was building and racing race cars.
C.B. is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Chris Shane (Karin), David Shaw (Anna); daughters, Valerie Butterworth (Bob), Linda Morrison (Jon), and Garbrielle Ubina (Robert). He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover.
Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force and Stover American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Stover American Legion.
