Carol A Matteson

Carol Ann Matteson (Higgins), age 68, passed away in her beloved farmhouse in Pilot Grove, Missouri on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1947 to Fred and Ozelle Higgins. Carol enjoyed sharing her love for basket weaving, chair caning, gardening, making new recipes, and telling people her favorite and unsavory collection of jokes. She is survived by her husband, Donald (Donnie) Matteson; Children, Leigh, Clay, Libbie, and Andrew; Son-and-law, Chuck; Daughter-in-law, Kimberly; Grandson, Caine; Granddaughter and the light of her life, Gabriella Jane. Carol's family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the family and friends who have stopped by to bring food, offer support, and to share a story of Carol. A memorial party will be held in Carol's honor in the farmhouse and garden that she so lovingly cared for. Date for the party is to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol's name to The Cooper County Historical Society in Pilot Grove, Missouri. She was an active member of the Historical Society where she served as the party planner, snack provider, and life of the party. She will be missed by many, but not soon forgotten.
