Carl Roscoe Houston, 90, of Tipton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at home in Tipton, Missouri.
Carl was born on October 25, 1931, in Olean, Missouri, the son of Wesley and Pearl Ann (Bond) Houston. He was a graduate of Eldon High School. Carl served in the United States Army, 8th Army, 79th Engineer Battalion, during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea in 1954, he reunited with his sweetheart, Ellen Rose Enloe. The two were united in marriage in 1955.
Carl worked at the shoe factory in Tipton, Missouri, until he started his own business, Houston’s General Repair and Welding, a familiar site on Highway 50 in Tipton for years. He was a volunteer member of the Rural Fire Department for 25 years, serving as the Rural Chief for many years. Carl also served as a Tipton City Alderman and the Mayor Pro-Tem. After retiring and selling his shop, he worked part-time at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tipton, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Thelma Simmons.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Tipton, Missouri; son and companion, Joseph Houston and Sherri Kempf; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Karin Houston; sister, Sherry Haynes; grandson and fiancé, Nicholas Houston and Jessica King; granddaughter and husband, Kelsey and Artem Kukharev; granddaughter and husband, Samantha and Zachary Brown; grandson and companion, Mitchel Houston and Tiffany Sherry; great-granddaughter, Emma Sherry; great-grandson, James Houston; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 5, 2022, at First Baptist Church Tipton, with Pastor Jared Rivera, officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 pm until service time.
Burial will take place at the Enloe Family Cemetery, Russellville, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Amïck, Zachary Brown, Mitch Houston, Nick Houston, Brian Mais, and Randy Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Tipton, Missouri, or Compassus Hospice Services, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Tipton, Missouri.
