Carl Ellsworth Garmon

January 12, 1925 — September 15, 2016

Carl Ellsworth Garmon, age 91, of Stover, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City.
He was born January 12, 1925, in Garden City, Missouri, the only child of Arthur Carl and Emma Ozelle Hardger Garmon. Carl was united in marriage to Dorothy Ethington, who preceded him in death on August 20, 1975.
He was a graduate of Garden City High School.
Carl served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, from March of 1946 to March of 1949
After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he worked on the assembly line for GM in Kansas City. After retiring from GM, he worked as an over the road truck driver for Oliver Oil Co. in Warrensburg. He enjoyed being a truck driver and getting to see the countryside, from coast to coast and border to border.
Carl was a lifelong KC Royals fan, getting to attend the 1985 World Series. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and he always wrote letters to his family and friends. He liked attending car races with family and the sound of a Hemi engine. He always had time to tell a good story and he loved bragging on his grandkids and great grandkids.
He is survived by two daughters, Carla and Darrell Pryor of Stover and Barbara Garmon of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Melynda Pryor and significant other Zaninge Kayira of St. Louis, John "Jake" Reynolds and Kim of Columbia, Debbi Farrar and wife Schottland of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michael Pryor and Marilyn of Stover, and Tyler Garmon Carver of Sedalia; six great grandchildren, Maya Reynolds, Jaspar Reynolds, Lorelai Pryor, Katya Reynolds, Emma Pryor, and Shiloh Farrar.
Along with his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Edward Garmon.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Roy Bennett officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to The Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of Bob Viebrock.
