Buddy Roger Fizer, age 81, of Versailles, passed away, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at his home.
He was born September 17, 1934, in Marshall, a son of Clay C. and Virgie Ballew Fizer. He married JoAnn Higgins and to this union two daughters were born, Roxanne and Julie.
He joined the United States Navy in 1953, serving in the Korean War, and receiving his honorable discharge in 1957.
Buddy was a musician, traveling around to different places and playing the drums.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Versailles.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and music.
Buddy is survived by two daughters, Roxanne McIllwain and husband Phil of VanLeer, TN and Julie Fizer of Centertown; five grandchildren, Willie Scott and wife Tabitha of Jefferson City, Lisa Fisher of Grainvalley, Weston Crocker and wife Sarah of St. Angelo, TX, Amanda Crocker of Jefferson City, and Nicole Buttrey of Burns, TN; and six great grandchildren, Heidi Robbins, Courtney Scott, Taylor Fisher, Kadin Crocker, Emma Crocker, and Delaney Buttrey.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Fizer; and one sister, Margerete Fizer.
A Celebration of Buddy's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the First Baptist Church in Versailles with Dr. Todd Forman officiating. Friends will be received from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Inurnment will be at a later date in the Old Lamine Cemetery in Pilot Grove.
