Bobby Joe Jackson

Bobby Joe Jackson, 83, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

One of 10 children, Bobby was born to Rome and Gracie Jackson in Fayette, Missouri.

Bobby served during the Korean conflict in the infantry of the US Army as a member of the 25th Division of the Wolfhounds. He was a foot soldier spending many days in fox holes and was a awarded a medal for his service. After returning home he became a member of the American Legion in Pilot Grove.

As a young man, Bobby worked in a service station eventually becoming a groundskeeper at the University of Missouri working there for over 15 years. He loved gardening, the outdoors, and the last several years of working on the farm. As his health began to fail, he has lived with his daughter Connie in Fayette. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life.

Preceding Bobby in death were his parents; brothers Price, Claude, Victor, infant brother Carl and sister Hazel who died at birth.

Surviving Bobby are sons William Silas Jackson and wife Donna of Boonville, Bobby Bittle and stepson Donnie Bittle, both of Boonville; daughter Connie Mallick of Fayette; grandchildren Henry Jackson, William Jackson and wife Liz, Dustin Patterson, Kayla Ybarra and husband Raymond, Kaitlen Carlock and husband Brandon; brother Ivan Jackson and wife Mary Lou of Arizona; sisters Barbara Hoover of Sedalia, Sandra Bader of Boonville, Connie Bader and husband John of Boonville; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Bobby Joe Jackson will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove followed by burial in the Pilot Grove City Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
