B.J. Conner

B.J. Conner, age 82, of Stover, died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at the Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
He was born April 7, 1928, in High Hill, a son of James M. and Georgia M. Klein Conner. On February 17, 1954, in Moberly, B.J. was united in marriage to Darlene Hargis, who preceded him in death April 10, 2009.
He was a Navy veteran, serving his country in World War II.
B.J. was a member of Iron Worker's Local #10 out of Kansas City, working for many years all over the state of Missouri.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Sedalia and later the Elks Lodge in Laurie. He was also a member of the Ararat Shrine.
He enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting. B.J. also enjoyed tending his garden, was a tinker-hobby man and could often be seen mowing his yard, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing.
In 1972, B.J. and Darlene began spending weekends at their home in the Ivy Bend community south of Stover. In 1976 they made Ivy Bend their permanent home.
Survivors include three sons, Scott Conner and wife Beth of Stover, Dennis Conner of Cameron and David Conner of the state of Florida; one grandson and one step grandson, Colton Hardin, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth M. Conner and one sister, Doris M. Reynolds.
Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 14, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with friends received from 5:00-6:00 P.M.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 15, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice at the HST Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
