Betty Silvey, age 81, of Eldon passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
It was on the 29th day of March in 1942 that Harold and Della Faye (Fleming) Sparks welcomed their daughter, Betty Ann, into their home in Oklahoma City, OK.
Betty was previously married to Loyd Vernon Silvey and to this union she had two daughters Holly and Shelly.
A caregiver by heart, Betty found a job that suited her wonderfully as the receptionist for Gunn Clinic in Versailles. She enjoyed helping others in any way she could, from visiting with the patients, to financially helping them with their copay so they could still see the doctor and get the medical care they needed. Betty was greatly missed once she retired from the clinic, by those she worked with, as well as the many patients who became her friends.
Betty was a happy soul always dressing in bright colors and helping cheer others up if they needed encouragement. She was always the first to welcome new residents at Eldon Nursing and Rehab while she was a resident there. Her nickname was "Betty Boop".
Later in her life, Betty rededicated her life to the Lord. It was important for her to make up for any mistakes she had made throughout her life and to begin living her life as a Christian woman who loved everyone unconditionally.
Left to carry on her legacy are her two daughters, Holly Silvey of Springfield and Fonda "Shelly" Brandt of Lake Ozark; two grandchildren, Tim Hurtz of Springfield and Summer Brandt of Lake Ozark; one great grandson, Jayson; along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her grandson, Dustin Silvey.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated.
