Betty A. Hollcroft
February 9, 1933 — May 2, 2020
Betty A. Hollcroft, age 87, of Versailles, passed away Saturday evening, May 2, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
She was born February 9, 1933, in Franklin, Missouri the only child of Raymond and Ruth “Nell” Isle Hollcroft.
She grew up in Howard County and was a graduate of Fayette High School in Fayette, Missouri.
Betty worked as a secretary for Cargill, Inc. and retired as administrator of the Golden Age Nursing Home in Stover.
Since Betty was an only child, her parent’s allowed her to spend time with the Jordan family, who were her mother’s relatives. The Jordan’s were a family with seven children and their daughter Roberta was the only girl; needless to say, Betty and she were more like sisters, than cousins. Betty and Roberta remained close, taking shopping trips, having lunch dates at the lake and talking regularly on the phone. Betty would spend the Thanksgiving holiday with Roberta’s family; preparing the meal days in advance, because she believed everything should be made from scratch.
She was an avid reader with an extensive collection of books. Betty never met a stranger and enjoyed the chance to visit with old friends and new acquaintances any chance she could.
Survivors include her cousins and their families, Roberta Crutcher of Moberly; Carl Jordan of Kansas City; Edward Jordan of Jefferson City; Wane Jordan of Branson and Raymond Jordan of Moberly and close friend Emma Vogt and her family of Versailles.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two cousins, David and Lonnie Jordan.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
