Bessie Kathleen "Kate" Metscher

Kathleen "Kate" Metscher, age 85, of Stover, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at her home.
She was born March 2, 1924, in Warsaw, a daughter of John Franklin and Rhoda Ada Sapp Cooper, both deceased. On June 6, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas she married Leonard Metscher, who survives at their home.
Kate was a devoted and loving wife and mother, who truly loved raising and being with her family. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed quilting and gardening, entertaining her family with stories and playing the harmonica. She was also a prayer warrior for her family and friends, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
She worked for 22 years at the Golden Age Living Center. Until her health began to fail her, Kate was a faithful member of the Abundant Life Church located at the Cole Camp Junction.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by nine children and their spouses, Mae Bressa and Jim Binnie, Stover; Jim and Debbie Metscher, Lincoln; Roger and Kennis Metscher, Oregon; Larry and Virginia Metscher, Dixon; Randy Metscher, Lincoln; Steve and Sabine Metscher, Parigould, Ark.; John and LeaAnn Metscher, Belton; Pam and "H" Pfeifer, Springfield and Kelly and Mark McLaughlin, Stover; a niece and 2 nephews she helped raise, Ronald, Carolyn and Gary, 30 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren, special care-givers, Debbie Kratzer, Maria Hume and Tiffany Koeller, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pamela Metscher, a niece she helped raise, Cathy, 7 brothers Virgil, Glenn, Manuel, James "Jiggs", Raymond, Russell and Jimmy Cooper and 3 sisters, Osa Hammond, Juanita Summers and Erma Sledd.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Herbert Robertson officiating. Interment will be in Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 8, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to Benton County Hospice or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
