Barry Micheal Hendrix, age 60, of Versailles, died unexpectedly Thursday night, March 29, 2012, at his home.
He was born June 20, 1951, in Cole Camp, a son of Cecil and Dulcie Comstock Vise, who survive in Versailles.
He grew up in the Independence area. For a short time he worked for his dad at A-I Superior Safe Company in Kansas City. However, his true calling was working on cars as a mechanic and in auto body, which he did in the Kansas City area for several years.
Barry enjoyed going to the races, was an accomplished cook and a wiz when it came to remembering people's names, places and numerous details, which made him a wonderful trivia buff. He was especially attached to his Boxer, Lucky. Most of all, Barry enjoyed spending time with his family, recently moving to Versailles to help care for his parents.
He is also survived by two daughters, Victoria McCoy and husband Jimmy and Lacie Hendrix all of Independence; two sisters, Sharon Vise and husband Mark Wieringa of Wofford, Heights, California and Teresa Vise and significant other Don Townsend of Pittsburg, Kansas; one granddaughter, Destiny McCoy, two nieces, Nicole Henkle and daughter Seren of Kansas City and Cassandra Baker of Parsons, Kansas; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A private family service will be held.
