Barbara Ann Meador, age 72, of Versailles, died Thursday, December 1, 2011, at her home.
She was born March 8, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri a daughter of Kennedy and Mildred Adler Davin. On July 3, 1958, in Kansas City, Barbara was united in marriage to Daniel F. Meador, who survives at their home.
She was a graduate of Paseo High School in Kansas City.
After moving to the Versailles community, Barbara worked at the Morgan County Bank for several years. She later retired from Fasco, Inc. after more than 20 years of employment.
She was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles, where she served as treasurer and then as the AWANA leader for more 25 years. Barbara was the choir director for several years and spent many hours assisting in the church office. She also enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church.
She participated in the Royal Theater in Versailles for several years and was a member of the cast in the production of "A Christmas Carol."
Barbara was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed Mizzou Football and Basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and even cheered the St. Louis Cardinals onto their World Series title this year.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Darlene Meador of Boonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Louis Sidebottom of Versailles; six grandchildren, Rebekah Peralta and husband Gilbert, Debbie Middleton, Britnee Smith and husband Joshua, Bryan Meador and wife Elizabeth, Brandon Meador and wife Andrea and Brandy Whitlock and husband Eric, six great grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Bethany Peralta, Vivian Smith, Addison Bescheinen, Katelyn Meador and Brooklyn Whitlock, (her 7th great-grandchild (a girl) is due in March, also other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dan Davin.
A Celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Private burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Versailles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church.
