Barbara Teresa Ketterlin

Barbara Teresa Ketterlin, 95, a lifelong resident of Tipton passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at home with family at her side.

One of five children, Barbara was born March 14, 1921 in Tipton, Missouri to Andrew and Elizabeth Schmitt.

On December 30, 1942 Barbara and William H. Ketterlin married and spent 49 and a half years together until his death on June 11, 1992. Their union was blessed with six children.

Barbara was a wonderful homemaker which was evident in her abilities that included sewing and gardening. Family dinners were a favorite time as she was praised by her children as being an excellent cook. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son William Joseph Ketterlin; daughter Mary Beth Luebbering; brothers
Tony and Norbert Schmitt.

Surviving Barbara are son Joe Ketterlin and his wife Rita of Tipton and their two children Brianne Ketterlin and Rachel Drane (Alec); daughter Barbara Ekstam (John) of Jefferson City and their children Steve Ekstam (Teena), Sheri Knipp (Bill); daughter Jane Palmer and her husband Michael of Columbia and their children Angie Schmidtberger (Brandon) and Brian Palmer (Michelle); daughter Martha Bestgen and her husband David of Tipton and her sons Jason Smith and Chad Smith (Jessica); son-in-law Stan Lueberring and three sons, Doug (Stephanie), Darin (Kim) and Scott Luebbering; brother Lee Schmitt; sister Ruth Norman; sister-in-law Esther Reven; 23 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, April 27 from 6 to 8 PM at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tipton with Rosary beginning at 5:30.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, April 28 at 10 AM at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Tipton. Interment will be immediately following at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials in Barbara T. Ketterlin's name to St. Andrew's Catholic School.
