Arnold Dale "Pete" Metscher, age 81, of Stover, passed away Saturday, June, 22, 2013, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born September 18, 1931, in Stover, a son of Henry and Anna Josephine Lutjen Metscher. On January 21, 1956, in Cole Camp, Arnold was united in marriage to Shirley Smith, who survives at their home.
Arnold was a field supervisor with Ralston-Purina, which later became Cargill, Inc., retiring after almost thirty years of employment.
He took great pride in restoring antique cars, and was especially proud of his 1929 Model A and a 57' Chevy. Arnold enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife throughout 48 states and shopping garage sales, where he was on the lookout for toys to give his great grandkids.
He was a faithful member of the Family Worship Center in Versailles, where he drove the church bus for many years.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by five children, Vickie Epple and husband Gus of Jefferson City; Debbie Kelley and husband Bob of Holts Summit; Gail Noel and husband Steve of Cole Camp; Sandra Sparks of Stover and Curtis Metscher and wife Linda of Stover; one brother, Raymond Metscher and wife Dorothy of Stover; two sisters, Betty Fern Senter and husband Bill of Columbia, Tennessee and Ruby Campbell of Stover; thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Jeremy, Brandon, Lauren, Ethan, Robin, Jamie, Richard, Alan, Ashley, Tiffany, William and Travis, fourteen great grandchildren, Thatcher, Meara, Bre, Nora, Brooklyn, Peyton, Micah, Avery, Cameron, Bradley, Evan, Kelsey, Cole and Ryan, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leonard Metscher, two sisters, Irene Sapp and Viola Cooper and one great granddaughter, Addison.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Danny Owsley officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arnold Metscher Scholarship Fund for Riverpoint Camp.
