Alma C. Battles

Alma Catherine Battles, 95, of Tipton passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was one of 6 children born to Leo Hentges and Emma Pringer in Centertown, Missouri.

Alma married Martin Battles on September 25, 1943 and he preceded her in death January 8, 1992 after 49 years of marriage.

Alma worked as a seamstress at the Striderite Shoe Factory and the Biltwell Factory for many years. Alma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who was very involved with her family. She was a strong, gracious, generous, patient, spiritual soul who loved and cared for everyone she knew. She enjoyed dancing, sewing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Dorothy Stemberger; and all 5 of her siblings.

She is survived by sons David Battles and his wife Martreta of Clarksburg, Ronald Battles of Ash Grove, Missouri, Gary Battles and his wife Debbie of Syracuse, Jamie Battles and his wife Lesley of Tipton; daughters Helen Hill of Tipton, Virginia Scholl and her husband Gary of Tipton, JaNiece Arnold and her husband Jim of Tipton; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 5, 2015 at St. Andrews Church in Tipton with Father Tony Rinaldo as celebrant. Rosary will be held at 8:30 AM and with visitation beginning at 9 AM prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery in Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrews Cemetery or the Tipton Nutrition Center.
